The Crush of Anomie

Speaking of Swedes,
Ingmar Bergman
was greatly influenced
by Freudian thought,
and his films portray modern humans
grappling with the condition of modernity,
the fraying of tradition,
and the crush of anomie,
or alienation,
that invades
the privations
of modern humans,
as asphalt
and concrete
and dislocates
the continuity
that grasses and farmlands
gave to people,
in the days
when Feudal lords
reigned powerful,
and the majority
were peasants,
and hard working.
